Nothing hurts like your mouth

Posted in Personal at 2:29 pm by Rob

I am having one heck of a tooth ache. Upper left molar and it feels like someone taking a needle and pushing it between my gums and tooth. I am hoping it is just something lodged between there and not a real tooth problem. Thank goodness for 800mg of pain killers.

What a pain…

Even though I have been working with the same intensity as I was before, my losses have been reduced to almost nothing. I have reached a plateau. Well, when the body adjusts to the routine then it is time for a change. I had not been doing any resistance training, save for maintenance so I would not loose much mass. This week was a time for that to come to an end.

All I can say is I want my mommy. I forgot what pushing weight for growth felt like, man I hurt. Of course it isn’t a bad hurt, no sharp pains, but I can feel it when I extend my range of motion in those parts that have been worked. More of a good hurt than anything else. It is time to put the mass on, lifting while doing cardio.

The good thing about gaining muscle mass is that it takes about 30 calories or so to maintain per day. While that does not seem like much, that 30 calories over a long period compounded with more muscle, a good cardio routine and a healthy diet can break that plateau. If I wanted to I could cut the cardio for a while, cycle it to keep my body guessing but I think for now I will stay the course.

The idea is not to over train so I reduce the time on the bike by the time spent lifting. I am only doing the core exercises for the major muscle parts, this means bench, squats, pull-ups and good-mornings (straight leg dead lifts). There are no flys, extensions of anything else. All I want now is mass, I can sculpt later. Once I get to that point where I am adding other excesses then I can reduce my cardio even further.

Hopefully this will get me over the plateau and on my way to more fat reduction.

Temper, temper

Posted in Personal at 10:14 pm by Rob

Tonight my wife and I went to the movies and saw Unleashed. It was a great movie but these kids in front of us kept talking. Thinking out loud and just enough that my wife could hear, I mouthed off about wishing I had something next time so I could silence the little bastards for good. What a mistake that was.

All the way out the door and to the car I got an ear full about how violence was wrong and nobody deserves that and how my temper needs to change. Blah, blah, blah. This after seeing a Jet Lee movie. Whatever. Then silence the entire way home and she goes straight to bed. Now, I am not violent. All talk, etc. I made the mistake on the way out of saying that I don’t care.

I am off to the couch now.

Me and my big mouth.
